I have sent copies of the proposed CPZ album to Rob and Ed for their approval and advice on the order of the tracks, etc.

Personally, I think it is a strong record that displays (retrospectively) what I think CPZ does best. We’ve been nudging this trio along for a while, letting the gigs happen as they seem to want to (meaning: we haven’t set ourselves a “show” per se), and it seems to be showing its preferences, at least to me.

Unlike cc3, the Cawthray/Price/Zankowski band is not going to be able to pick up much wedding reception work on the side.

I hope to get a consensus on this album within the next few weeks and (maybe) and April Fools release?

He was our opening act on Saturday night (the client booked him, we had no idea). He was something else, that’s for sure.

gig tonight

My first gig since Jan10 is tonight. I’ve played a few dance classes lately, but for the most part took a month off (3 weeks of it by choice, 1 week by the cruel hand of fate…).

Hot Buttered Soul is playing a private event in Mississauga, the first HBS show since New Year’s Eve. I’m also doing the backline tech for the gig tonight, so it’s been an all-day affair (with breaks in between) of going to L&M to rent a PA and some lights, going to the storage space to get my drums and do some head changes, etc. before loading the car, and now getting ready to head over to the venue to set up the PA and drums. I’ll (hopefully) make it back home for a while before heading to the gig for a 20:30 call, when the rest of the band is showing up. 4 sets tonight and then the not-fun teardown and load-out.

Coming up this week, on Valentine’s Day no less, is the next cc3 gig @ the Gladstone. Many thanks to the ’stone for booking us 3 months straight now, I hope we’re back in March too. First set is at 7pm, no cover, and we play for lovers and the lonely too.
